Are teenage relationships worth all of the stress?

A year ago I would watch as my friends mature, grow and become fully involved with someone else and I used to sit there and wonder when my time will come, when I will feel the same feeling they are feeling - Love, pain, lust, anger, happiness, frustration and a whole load of other emotions all combined into one.  That sounds crazy right? I actually wanted to feel the suffering my friends felt whenever something wrong happens in their relationship, but now, that has all changed.

When you watch Teenage Movies like 'Mean Girls' and 'DUFF', you think that the sole purpose of secondary school was to hook up with just about anyone, date the most popular, good looking girl or guy and not be ashamed of being a bit of a slag. However,  if you didn't meet up to secondary school's standards you were considered as a 'loser', 'frigid' lesbian' or 'gay' (depending on your gender), like you wasn't acknowledged in the school social system.
But I existed. In fact, I had a lot more going for me than most of the people quickly securing a quick shag in the school's art cupboard. However, what frequently came out of my peers mouths were "why aren't you interested in being in a relationship?" I could of responded by saying; " I am a independent black women and I don't need no man."(I'm a guy by the way) but truly, it was just because the opportunity never came up, and if it did, it was very discreet so I couldn't tell the difference from someone being nice to me or wanting something more. Anyway, the choice I made when I was about fourteen years old was that I wasn't going to rush into a relationship just for the sake of being in one, there is more to life than being with someone like, watching Netflix and playing Pokemon cards with my friends.
Does it sound weird to you that I don't really get crushes? I have only had one major crush in my life and that lasted for one year and after it ended, after that depressing saga ended, I felt exhausted, it was awful. A friend and I used to talk about how we wished life was like "Twilight" or some supernatural shit like that, where you meet someone so attractive and they want you, they want all of you and nobody else. That was the dream back then.
But now? I am living the single life, happy, free and able to get on with my day without any worries whatsoever. Not everyone is like me though, some people suffer with being alone, without having someone to rely on when things go bad however, they shouldn't be with someone just so that they feel safe, they should learn to be confident within themselves, believe in themselves and just love themselves for them.
Fellow singletons, don't feel as though you are living this journey by yourself, there are plenty of other people who are in the very same situation you are in. Just remember that when you meet the "right one" they will most likely be more mature and more financially stable then the little kids you used to fancy back in school.
