The trousers that make most people in the 21st Century cringe but, made the Hippies in the late 60's and early 70's jump up with joy and happiness is returning and sadly, maybe for good?
In the mid 1960's flared trousers or 'bell-bottoms' became the fashion trend for both men and women (but now, mostly women). By 1967, the flared trousers moved from'high fashion' (was it really ever high fashion?!) to part of the hippie culture and being part of the hippie's funky ensemble.
The idea of the flared trousers coming back gives me nightmares, I just don't understand why women would want curtains at the bottom of their trousers? Celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Carmen Electra, Jessica Alba and many more are championing the return of the hideous looking flared trousers. Well whenever a celebrity picks ups a new trend, its not long before customers react and follow suit. RiRi's red hair anyone?
Women have always wanted to be apart of newest fashionable thing but these days they are all trying to get involved with the latest trends to become like celebrities, and they follow whatever the celebrities will wear as celebrities apprantley know everything about fashion.
Last week, I was walking home and I bumped into my next door neighbour. We chatted for a bit, about general things like the weather and other sorts. When we said out goodbyes i turned around to wave goodbye and I looked at the floor I saw the bottom part of her pants sweeping across the floor like a dustbin sweeper! I was in actual shock! Just why?! Why would you want to get your clothes dirty? You bought them to look nice, correct?
I mean, these diabolical trousers scream:"look at me, I'm vintage and high fashion" but, in my mind, they scream:"look at me, I've attached all of the litter from the pavement onto the ends of my trousers and I'm taking it with me to have a picnic!"
Also, please do not get me started on the way the trousers actually go over the shoes and hide them! The victim may as well go bare foot; nobody's going to see your feet anyway.
Women, the hippie era is done and over with, please returns to normality?!
Bell-Bottom trousers are the ugliest, nastiest, over-sized trousers the fashion industry has ever created and I am appalled that the industry would bring this horrific piece of clothing back into stores for people to wear and make their legs look like tree trunks.
In the 60's and 70's flared trousers were the perfect piece of clothing however, the legendary trousers are now out of date and should stay behind closed doors, forever. Once they fall of the radar in the fashion industry, they should never be debuted again.
Flared Trousers? You mean Burned Out Trousers.
