Canary Wharf Presents Thomson Reuters and Steven Forrest

"In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality.”

When entering Thomson Reuters headquarters, I felt like I was in the 1980's (no shade intended to be thrown) looking at their traditional layout of their HQ, it was quite nostalgic actually. We were shown around by one of the employee's and as I looked around, I noticed everyone in their formal attire ready to get on with the tasks but, it seemed like each and every person enjoyed what they did and that was very inspiring.

When the tour came to a close, we were formally introduced to Simon Newman who is a photojournalist/photo editor of Thomsan Reuters. What I enjoyed about his session was the beauty of his pictures and the fact that they all had different meanings which conveyed deep meaningful messages really made a connection with me. His preppy attire caught my eyes and I couldn't stop looking at his fluffy socks, they were so bright! Simon engaged with us all and answered our questions with full detail, not allowing one question to go to waste, and that made me realise that there is more to photojournalism than just taking a picture.

When Simon told us that there have been photojournalist killed while doing their job, it struck into my head that this job is dangerous, risk taking and very high intense, Simon then announced that no photojournalist should risk their life for a picture, and that is correct.  After this we went back to 'Level 39' to meet another photojournalist (whom  is one of my favorites now) called Steven Forrest. He has pictured Cate Blanchett, the riot in Italy, he dislikes forced pictures and gives amazing tips about breaking into photojournalism! What I learned was that having the right natural light can drastically transform your picture and make it into something beautiful! Don't I look gorgeous in the picture below?

One of the words that caught my attention was  "simplicity" as I like to keep everything simple and not force the picture in front of me.

"If it is your passion, go for it."

Then, Steven gave us a task to take pictures of Canary Wharf and this was the best part of the session as some people took such beautiful pictures but, this one was one of my favourites and of course I am in it:

Canary Wharf is now officially my playground to venture into and connect with some of the world's best Journalists.
